jin choi is a musician, producer, dj and live artist based in berlin, germany. equally focused on groove and melodic structures, his music fuses electronic and naturalistic sounds to move the head and body. once coined modern minimal, chois productions are equal parts emotion, melody and rhythm. full range is his first release on serialism records. in a recent interview, choi described himself as a burial loving music-nerd who is simply trying to create his own musical language. he has released on lessizmore, contexterrior, romanphoto & archipel, to name a few. for ser10, he joins forces with maceo plex (aka maetrik, the moniker he saves for his darker techno productions) to do just that. most known for his recent revered deep-house single, vibe your love on crosstown, plex makes the release the perfect late-night tool. first up is full range, a dubby tech-house number with ominous and increasingly glitchy repetitive vocals that remind the listener of what choi seems to already know - music is the universal language, music is no longer irrelevant. next, half baked, the eps star, manages to perfectly fuse industrial sounds with melody making a blissed-out, deep- house track. mysterious squeaks, hisses and factorial inner workings provide the backdrop while warm time-stretched freestyle vocals guide us through the production. maceos deep remix is around 9-minutes of chicago house inspired sounds layered with snappy high hats and emotive chords.

subtlety is not the first word used in connection with most djs, but there is much more the métier of germany s gregor tresher than simply playing records, as lights from the inside attest: just as a painting or photograph appears to move if one stares at it long enough, with close listening the stratified grooves and melodies assembled on gregor s stunning third full-lenght artist album reveal an organic universe of shifting sound. meticulous attention to the latter element—melody—was of utmost concern to the frankfurt resident. not obvious, eight-bar earworms that would quickly exhaust their welcome, but musical lines that could repeat, develop and intertwine in different patterns. in this regard, lights from the inside harks back to gregor tresher s earlier releases, but as always his sound aesthetic continues to evolve in new directions.

hypnolove are a cult band from toulouse, in the southwest france. their first album >eurolove< included the french pop song >mademoiselle< which featured across french national radio stations, a kiss cover (i was made for loving you), a feist featuring (bitch lap lap) (but sshh, no one is allowed to mention her real name, she became famous just after recording it) and even a punk track! the album was going places. nothing short of brilliant, but alas, audiences had a hard time understanding the logic of it, which of course was simply the songs, the taste, the musicality and the talent!dj-support from tiga, busy p, steve aoki, pilooski, the magician, munk, jerry bouthier, rory phillips ...

unquote is the guise used by russian electronic music producer vsevolod ermakov. he joins a trend of exciting new producers from eastern europe delivering a new interpretation of experimental drum & bass and dubstep. he has, to date, clocked up releases on some of the scenes most forward thinking labels, including a single on med school and releases on hospital and influenza media. he has also been tipped as one to watch by london electricity on the acclaimed hospital podcast. cold tenderness is, as the title suggests, an emotional and melancholy piece of ambient dubstep. its stirring synths and haunting vocals create what is, quite simply, a breathtaking track that you will want to play again and again. the flipside sees edinburghs finest dfrnt on remix duty giving us a glimpse of what is to come on his forthcoming extended player on nu directions later in the spring.

it seems that dapayk used to listen to a lot of hip-hop when he was younger. his latest ep for still vor talent >let go< has got these influences written all over it. the title track starts out with a male vocal and some sounds that sound a little like scratching before things then quickly head into the direction of the club. the vocal by singer camara could not be more reminiscent of 80s house music and this track has got all the soul and groove of this era. beneath the delicate vocal and sound patterns lies a wonderfully simply staccato house groove that is sure to get everyone shuffling. on the flip things get a little more techy with >nneka<, a deeper and more melodic tech house glider that gently takes the listener towards a harmonic state of mind. beautifully arpeggiated pads, a warm soulful groove and some reverbed vocals make this one. last up is the sample-based tech-house stomper >upyo< featuring production partner jon hester. this is loop heaven: a pushy beat loop with many snares, reverse samples and an unexpected saxophone melody make this one the perfect changeover track from warm-up to peak-time. this ep shows dapayks skills to combine many musical influences into his unique still of tech-house music

produced in 2004, this ep marks an essential shift in the production of stefan goldmann to his modus operandi as a dedicated innovator. he had adapted the barricade guise to induce some serious deviations into the techno realm. yet, heads werent ready and he simply continued under his real name with his major breakthrough works: perlons blood ep and the legendary sleepy hollow tune. hidden from the public, aleko and frantic had built a prototypic aesthetic of rough, concrete-space sounds - reduced dark, metallic percussion grooves, spring reverbs and degraded post-acidic synths. you name it where you heard this sound years later. its revealing how far ahead these tunes were at the time of their creation. they sound more now than many current tracks. aleko is the 4/4 techno version of this soundset, locked-in clonk patterns built around a nitrous bassline. frantic could be a future development to todays dubstep, if it wasnt its actual historic predecessor. add the schizophrenic bass excursion heliotrope and you have a package of painstaking relevance. back then the a&rs simply didnt get it - thats why it took 6 years and the formation of victoriaville to finally bring these gems to light

the third release of the new label >lets get lost< which was started by mule musiq and force of natures kza. this third release is by uk producer extrodinaire leo zeros remix of the uks florence & the machine. this leo zero remix was released on only cd single and itunes in 2009. when i received this remix from the agent of leo zero i fell in love with it immediately. it was one of the biggest tracks for me in the last year but was never released on vinyl. leo zero reconstructed the aesthetic alternative rock (like a pumping cocteau twins!?) to very emotional house music. its simply good music and not only for the dance floor. greg wilson has edited it into a semi instrumental version which has never been released on any format. this release is official bootleg for limited press! dont miss it!!

big twelve from us label slant featuring glasgow s edit select and alex smoke. label owner let s go outside supplies the b-side.slant s fourth 12 yields two mighty pieces of techno. one side is let s go outside s epic valentino , the other is the absolutely wicked the retainer from edit select and alex smoke. all the criteria for a classic split are met and well exceeded here.the pairing of edit select and alex smoke is simply brilliant. the a side s the retainer is crowd control. alex s signature vocal cut ups and chugging percussion layered atop edit select s hypnotic, repetitive style make for a true techno masterpiece.on the aa side, let s go outside throws down a deep, seductive, tough cut with valentino . airy pads float atop pulsing bass and a subtle, driving orchestra of percussion and static. the entire piece slowly ebbs before crashing down, repeating, the pace deliberate and guided by soft words about first loves.

the martinez/mesteo remix of the club classic >under the water< is the first leg in a series of remixes to be patiently released throughout 2010 - initiated by one half of the original brother brown outfit, atle, now operating under the moniker one brother. the martinez/mesteno mix has only been sent to a carefully selected handful of friends and family around the world (less than 15 movers and shakers). simply to see if we can give this mix the longestpossible and well deserved (we think anyway) run for itsmoney. please do enjoy!

yore welcomes ibex to the yore family. tony ollivierra aka ibex, who is no stranger at all to the world of detroit house music, known for his outstanding releases on carl craigs >planet e< or his hot gems on 3rd ear and rushhour, returns in full effect on our 26th release. here he brings us four tracks, so deep (and yet grooving without a doubt), unique and full of class, that it still leaves us simply speechless. the music on this ep is so rich and full of musical ideaÆs, like we havent heard it since a very long time. one can tell you need history and expertise behind to drop something like this and ibex sure has what it takes. hes been releasing high quality house music since early 2000 and has been touring as a dj since the mid nineties, which all you can sense in his music. this is one of our personal favourite releases so far and we can only strongly recommend to get your copy while they last. killer ep not to be missed and already a classic today!

when being into collecting records for more then 20-25 years there is not much left that can be considered the holy grail of house music... so we wont call this a holy grail. however for us its a track which was impossible to find because it was simply not released! only a hand full white labels on dj international have been floating around, but it never got a proper release. finally we managed to get the rights and more important a proper old recording of sterling voids instrumental version of serve it up. his first ever recording done in chicago, 1987!
